Agartala: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday blamed the Congress party for the historical injustices against Hindus in Bangladesh, claiming that the Congress leadership’s acceptance of Partition was a selfish move to secure power.
Speaking at the consecration (Pran Pratistha) ceremony of the Siddheswari temple in Barkathal, West Tripura, Adityanath said, “The first conspiracy of divide and rule, seen in the division of Bengal in 1905, was resisted by society. However, when the two-nation theory, backed by the Muslim League, gained momentum, the Congress leadership failed to oppose it, allowing this historical injustice to occur.”
He urged the people of Tripura to reflect on the situation in neighbouring Bangladesh and understand the true history behind Partition. “We must remain vigilant and aware of these concerning developments,” he added.
Adityanath also called Pakistan a “cancer for the world,” blaming the Congress leaders for its creation. “Had the Congress not been driven by greed for power, Pakistan would never have come into existence. As long as Pakistan exists, there will be trouble. All world powers must unite to neutralise it,” he said.
During his speech, the BJP leader emphasized the importance of protecting ‘Dharma’ and claimed that situations like the current one in Bangladesh would not be allowed in India. “If we protect Dharma, Dharma will protect us. Sanatan stands for everyone, but to help others, we must first safeguard ourselves. In Uttar Pradesh, during Hindu festivals, rioters often wreaked havoc. Similar challenges were faced in Tripura, but things have changed. Now, both development and Dharma can flourish together,” Adityanath stated.
He praised spiritual leader Swami Shanti Kali Maharaj and the royal dynasty of Tripura for their role in defending Dharma. “In 1984, Shanti Kali Maharaj established ashrams to protect Dharma, and today, his vision has been realised through the tireless efforts of his disciple, Chitta Ranjan Maharaj,” he noted.
The event was also attended by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, MP Biplab Kumar Deb, and several spiritual leaders, including Swami Chittaranjan Maharaj.
