Students at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) have been urged to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as it has the potential to enhance their careers in the computer science industry.
Imtiaz Ahmed Siddique, Principal Cyber Security Architect at Microsoft USA, delivered a presentation on “Role of Artificial Intelligence in Computer Science Advancement” at the university recently. During his visit, Siddique emphasised the opportunities in the field of AI and highlighted that the technology will not replace jobs, but instead, it will replace those who lack AI skills.

“Learning is the key; change is a constant thing in life. You need not fear losing a job to AI because it will not directly replace a person. It will replace those who are not skilled in AI. So please adopt the latest technology; there is a huge potential in this industry,” Siddique said.
He also cautioned against the misuse of AI, emphasising its potential to facilitate serious crimes such as cybercrime. “When we talk about cyber security, we generally refer to four aspects: tools, technology, people, and process. Apart from the technical side, we must know that until and unless we make our people cyber aware, they will continue making mistakes and falling into traps,” he added.
