Jiribam: The district administration of Jiribam, Manipur, continued its efforts to assist displaced individuals following recent unrest in the region. Led by Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, officials have distributed essential supplies including groceries, LPG cylinders, and other necessities to residents in relief camps.
Authorities have ensured regular drinking water supply through the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and daily health check-ups by medical staff from CHC Jiribam. Sanitary kits have been provided to maintain hygiene in the camps, with a focus on the well-being of inmates.
The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project is supplying supplementary nutritious food to children, and stand fans have been provided to alleviate the warm weather conditions in the camps.
To maintain cleanliness, the Jiribam Municipal Council is conducting regular cleaning of the camp premises. Additionally, the Zonal Education Office has set up a temporary school at Bidyanagar Multipurpose Sports Complex, resuming classes for 98 displaced students from grades 1 to 8. Textbooks and notebooks have been distributed to support their education.

Recent violence in Jiribam has displaced over 900 local residents, with some seeking refuge in neighbouring Cachar district, Assam. Responding to the crisis, Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired a cabinet meeting to address the situation and establish a sub-committee for the rehabilitation and resettlement of internally displaced persons.
Fresh violence erupted following the alleged beheading of Soibam Saratkumar Singh, 59, by armed miscreants on June 6.
