The 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recently organised an extensive disaster management training session for the 05 Assam NCC Battalion at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Udalguri. This initiative aimed to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities among the cadets.
The event witnessed the participation of NCC officials, teachers, and 540 cadets. The comprehensive training session included lectures and practical demonstrations covering various critical aspects of disaster management. Key topics included the role of the NDRF, earthquake preparedness, rescue techniques, and the management of soft tissue injuries.
Participants received hands-on training in first aid, including the use of improvised stretchers and techniques to manage airway obstruction and perform CPR. Additionally, safety measures for thunderstorms were discussed in detail.
The training also introduced cadets to several weather-based early warning apps such as Mausam, Damini, Meghdoot, Sagar Vani, and Bhookamp. These tools are designed to provide timely alerts and information, crucial for effective disaster response.
