Shillong: Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari announced the final results of the Lok Sabha contest in the two parliamentary constituencies of the state on Tuesday evening.
In the Shillong constituency, Dr. Ricky Andrew Syngkon of VPP secured a commanding lead with 5,71,078 votes, while Congress candidate Vincent Pala garnered 1,99,168 votes. With a significant margin of 3,71,910 votes, VPP emerged victorious in the constituency.
NPP candidate Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh secured 1,86,488 votes, followed by United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Robertjune Kharjahrin with 44,563 votes. The total number of NOTA votes stood at 11,008, with 646 votes rejected.
Moving to the Tura Parliamentary Constituency, Saleng Sangma from INC secured a notable victory with 3,83,990 votes, surpassing NPP’s Agatha Sangma, who garnered 2,28,678 votes. TMC leader Zenith Sangma managed to secure 48,709 votes.
