Itanagar: Former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki has refuted recent media reports claiming his resignation as the president of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).
In an exclusive interview with EastMojo, Tuki clarified that while there were discussions about his resignation, and he had also submitted an official letter to the party high command on March 5, there has, however, been no response from them yet.
“I had offered to resign from the post of APCC president as I was not able to assist those who intend to contest the upcoming assembly elections from a Congress ticket and campaign for them, as I am contesting the polls myself. So, I thought of resigning from the position,” Tuki said.
Tuki, who represents the Sagalee assembly constituency, stated that as he has received no response from the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) over his resignation letter, he will continue to fulfill his role as the APCC president.
“For now, I remain committed to serving the people of Arunachal and the Congress party,” Tuki said.
APCC general secretary Gyamar Tana had on Friday claimed that Tuki submitted his resignation from the post as APCC president to the AICC following the defection of three sitting Congress MLAs to the BJP recently.
Tana has, however, dismissed rumours suggesting Tuki’s potential switch to the BJP, categorizing such claims as mere speculation.
A prominent figure in the state’s political landscape, Tuki has been at the helm of the APCC for several years, overseeing the party’s strategies and engagements.
