Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched seven Mine Protected Vehicles for the Manipur Police at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade Ground on Wednesday. The mine-protected Quick Reaction Fighting (QRF) vehicles were provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs amid the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur since May 3 of the previous year.
Taking to Facebook, CM Biren stated, “With the ever-vigilant service of the Manipur Police, this addition will enhance our capabilities in ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. Together, we will continue striving towards a safer and more secure Manipur.”
The state police, now equipped with state-of-the-art vehicles, will be better positioned to carry out their duties in vulnerable areas, thereby bolstering security measures across the state.
Expressing gratitude, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh thanked the chief minister for the Mine Protected Vehicles and for motivating the force. He also announced that three more Mine Protected Vehicles are expected to arrive, emphasizing their use in dominating areas and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Manipur.
The launch ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, and senior administrative and police officers.
