Maligaon: In a move to improve safety and passenger comfort, the coaches of the weekly express train No. 15626/15625 (Agartala-Deoghar-Agartala) have been converted into modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, featuring state-of-the-art amenities. the North East Frontier Railway said in a statement.
The inaugural run of the LHB-equipped train, flagged off by Prof (Dr) Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, took place on Saturday from Agartala Railway Station. The event saw the presence of senior railway officials from the Lumding division and other dignitaries.
The newly converted LHB train No. 15626 (Agartala-Deoghar) Express is scheduled to depart from Agartala every Saturday at 19:00 hours, while train No. 15625 (Deoghar-Agartala) Express will depart from Deoghar every Monday starting from February 5, 2024, at 20:05 hours.
The route will take the train through Ambassa, Badarpur Jn., Lumding Jn., Guwahati, Rangiya Jn., New Jalpaiguri, Naugachia, Bhagalpur, etc. The transition to LHB coaches aims to enhance the comfort of passengers traveling from the northeast to the holy city of Deoghar for pilgrimage.
Additionally, for passenger convenience, it has been decided to convert the special train No. 05628/05627 (Agartala-Guwahati-Agartala) to LHB. The Agartala-Guwahati Special (Train No. 05628) will depart from Agartala every Thursday at 19:00 hours starting from February 8, and the Guwahati-Agartala Special (Train No. 05627) will depart from Guwahati every Friday starting from February 9 at 13:15 hours.

Both trains will feature 21 LHB design coaches, including five AC 3-tier, ten Sleeper Class, three Second Class, one Pantry Car, and two Power Cars, as stated in a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
