Imphal: At least four more persons who had tested positive for COVID-19 succumbed to the virus on Saturday in Manipur, taking the total fatality cases to 299, said a state health official.
According to additional health director Dr K Sasheekumar Mangang, in the last 24 hours, two persons from Imphal East and one each from Imphal West and Churachandpur districts were declared dead at Raj Medicity (1) and JNIMS Hospital (3), respectively.
Meanwhile, another 166 new cases were reported from 11 districts, in which 157 persons are from the general population and nine are personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

All the local cases are without any significant travel history to other states and they are reported from Imphal West (47), Imphal East (64), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (4), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (3), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (3), Jiribam (3) and Noney (5) districts.
With this, the total confirmed cases for COVID-19 in the state is 25,857, in which 22,655 persons have recovered and 2,903 remained as active cases. The total recovery rate is 87.61 per cent.
