Shillong: After six positive COVID-19 cases were detected from state secretariat office in Shillong, the Meghalaya government has decided to sanitise and disinfect the main building also the additional secretariat on Saturday and Sunday.

Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said that it was after six active cases were detected recently that the government has decided to sanitise the entire building thoroughly.

The government has also appealed the citizens of the state to not make any visit to these two offices for the upcoming one week which is from September 7.

“Except for few important work otherwise unnecessary visits may kindly be stopped for the entire week of next week,” Tynsong said.

Meanwhile, Tynsong claimed that by looking at the spike of COVID-19 cases community transmission seems to be already in place.

Therefore from the government’s end the government has once reminded the citizens to kindly adhere strictly to the SOPs and protocols issued by the state government through health department from time to time.

“Three things- social distancing, wearing masks, washing or sanitising your hands as much as possible on daily basis these are the three things that we appeal the citizens of the state to follow,” Tynsong said
