Northeast India hit by another earthquake, third this week

Guwahati: A mild earthquake of 2.9 to 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted some parts of Assam, Meghalaya and bordering Banglasdesh on Friday at 2.05 pm.

According to officials, there was no reports of any damage or casualty.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the tremor with a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale hit Meghalaya capital Shillong and Dima Hasao district in southern Assam at 2.05 pm.

Seismologists consider India’s mountainous northeast region as the sixth major earthquake-prone belt in the world.
