The Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC) of ISRO has signed a Space Flight Agreement (SFA) with Axiom Space Inc. for its upcoming Axiom-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The agreement envisions a joint mission between ISRO and NASA, with the aim of mounting a joint ISRO-NASA effort to the ISS.
According to ISRO, the purpose of the mission is to undertake selected scientific research and technology demonstration experiments on the ISS. While the mission will also engage in spaceoutreach activities, it will strengthen human space flight cooperation between ISRO and NASA.
It is expected that the Gaganyatris will start their training for the mission from the first week of August 2024. They will be responsible for carrying out the experiments and engaging in spaceoutreach activities. The experiences gained from this mission will be beneficial for the Indian Human Space Program and it will also strengthen human space flight cooperation between ISRO and NASA.
