New Delhi: Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Rajwinder Singh Bhatti officially took over as the Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Saturday, according to an official release. Bhatti, who brings with him a wealth of experience from a distinguished 34-year career, was welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour upon his arrival at the CISF Headquarters.
Praveer Ranjan, ADG (APS), Kundan Krishnan, ADG (North), PS Ranpise, ADG (HQ), and other senior CISF officers received Bhatti at the headquarters. Following the formalities, he interacted with the senior officers and chaired a meeting to assess the functioning of the CISF. During this meeting, Bhatti emphasized his commitment to enhancing professionalism and implementing welfare measures within the Force.
Bhatti outlined his vision to strengthen the CISF’s capabilities in safeguarding the nation’s critical infrastructure, including airports, nuclear installations, and other vital assets. He also highlighted the importance of prioritising the well-being of CISF personnel, acknowledging their crucial role in maintaining the Force’s high standards.
Rajwinder Singh Bhatti’s appointment as the 31st DG of the CISF marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career. Before this role, he served as the Director General of Bihar Police, where he was renowned for his strategic acumen and leadership in managing complex law and order situations. An IPS officer from the 1990 Bihar Cadre, Bhatti is a Chartered Accountant with an M.Phil degree, further enriching his leadership with a strong academic foundation.

Over the years, Bhatti has held several important and sensitive positions in Bihar and on Central Deputation to the Government of India. His roles have included City Superintendent of Police (SP) of Patna and SP in Jehanabad, Gopalganj, and Purnia. He has also served as SP of Siwan, Inspector-General (IG) of Patna Zone, and IG (Security). During his Central Deputation, Bhatti was appointed as Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) in the Air Authority of India (AAI).
Bhatti’s extensive experience in diverse roles has equipped him with a deep understanding of security management, operational strategy, and public administration. His contributions to law enforcement have been recognised with the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2006 and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2014.
