Man arrested in Dibrugarh over alleged ULFA links

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F. Railway has been diligently conducting operations to mitigate the issue of touts. In a series of checks and drives conducted from 1st to 16th July 2024, the RPF apprehended nine touts and recovered railway tickets valued at over Rs. 2.21 lakh. During this period, ten individuals involved in the theft of passenger belongings were also apprehended, and twelve mobile phones worth more than Rs. 1.91 lakh were recovered.

During these operations, the RPF collaborated with the Government Railway Police (GRP) where necessary. A total of 84 railway tickets worth approximately Rs. 2,21,851 were recovered during the drives and raids. All apprehended individuals were prosecuted under the relevant sections of the Railways Act.

On 2nd July 2024, a joint raid and search operation was conducted by the RPF and the CIB team at the PRS counter of New Jalpaiguri. The operation led to the recovery of 18 e-tickets worth around Rs. 48,383, and the apprehension of one tout. A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at New Jalpaiguri for further action.

On 4th July 2024, a joint operation by the RPF, CPDS, and GRP at New Jalpaiguri railway station resulted in the apprehension of two individuals and the recovery of four stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs. 1,00,000. The apprehended individuals and the recovered mobile phones were handed over to the respective In-charge of GRP at New Jalpaiguri for further legal proceedings.

In addition to monitoring the unauthorised and illegal procurement of railway tickets, the RPF of N. F. Railway remains committed to providing services and assistance to rail users while ensuring passenger security. N. F. Railway authorities urge all passengers to travel with proper tickets to avoid issues during their journeys. Passengers can dial 139 (toll-free) if they encounter any problems during their train travel.
