N. F. Railway has been working towards upgrading and maintaining its infrastructure to ensure the safety of trains. This has included the installation of Thick Web Switch Point machines with clamp-type locking in 24 stations across the zone to further enhance efficiency and safety.
Other upgrades include the installation of Intermediate Block Signalling between Bagrakot and Sivok sections, which will increase the operational capacity of the section, resulting in more trains moving on it. Data loggers have also been commissioned at Pawakhali station in Katihar Division to electronically monitor the operation of various safety gear. Electric lifting barriers have also been replaced at six level crossing gates in the Rangiya division to enhance safety at level crossing gates.
N. F. Railway has also laid a 14.715 km signalling cable at various stations in Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, and Katihar divisions. The introduction of automatic fire detection and alarm systems at 10 locations across the zone is a part of the safety measures taken to prevent damage to railway properties. In addition, system integrity testing has been carried out at the 32-level crossing gates of N. F. Railway.
