In a shocking case of food contamination, five individuals have been booked in Pune after condoms, stones, and gutkha were discovered in samosas served at an office canteen. The incident, which came to light on March 27, involved a motive of revenge, as revealed by the ongoing investigation.
The samosas were served at the canteen of a major automobile company located in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune. Among the five accused, two were workers of a subcontracting firm tasked with supplying the samosas. The remaining three individuals were partners of another subcontracting firm that had previously been removed for adulteration.
The sequence of events leading to the contamination can be traced back to the earlier supplier, SRA Enterprises, whose contract was terminated after a bandage was found in snacks. In an attempt to defame the new supplier, Manohar Enterprises, which replaced SRA Enterprises, three partners of SRA Enterprises conspired to plant their workers within Manohar Enterprises. These workers were assigned the task of contaminating the food items to tarnish the reputation of the new supplier.
The five accused individuals have been identified as Rahim Shaikh, Azhar Shaikh, Mazhar Shaikh, Firoz Shaikh, and Vicky Shaikh. Firoz Shaikh and Vicky Shaikh were the two workers responsible for stuffing the samosas with the objectionable items. They confessed to being employees of SRA Enterprises and acting under the instructions of its partners.

A case has been registered under sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The arrests were made on April 8, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the conspiracy and the involvement of other individuals.
