2,633 nominations filed for phase 2 of Lok Sabha elections

2633 nominations were filed for 88 parliamentary constituencies across 12 states and union territories for the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, scheduled to be held on 26 April 2024. The last date for filing nominations was 4 April 2024.

Scrutiny of the nominations resulted in 1428 valid nominations, while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures was 8 April 2024. Kerala saw the highest number of nominations, with 500 candidates contesting across 20 parliamentary constituencies, followed by Karnataka with 491 nominations from 14 constituencies.

The lowest number of nominations was received from Tripura, with just 14 nominations filed for one parliamentary constituency. The 16-Nanded Parliamentary Constituency in Maharashtra received the highest number of nominations, with 92 candidates vying for a seat in the Lok Sabha.

It is important to note that 15 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will go to polls on 19 April 2024 (Phase 1), while the remaining 13 ACs will be part of Phase 2 on 26 April 2024. Four candidates have filed their nominations for the Outer Manipur PC, which was notified in a Gazette notification issued on 5 April 2024.
