President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday presented the Bharat Ratna to nine people including former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh’s daughter Nitya Rao and PV Narasimha Rao’s son P V Prabhakar Rao at an Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Droupadi Murmu said that she had conferred the Bharat Ratna on P V Narasimha Rao posthumously. On behalf of the late P V Narasimha Rao, the Bharat Ratna was received by P V Prabhakar Rao. The former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh was also posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna.
On behalf of the late Chaudhary Charan Singh, the Bharat Ratna was received by Jayant Chaudhary. The Bharat Ratna was also given to Dr M S Swaminathan posthumously. On behalf of the late Dr M S Swaminathan, the Bharat Ratna was received by Dr Nitya Rao.
