Kohima: Incessant heavy rain between July 18 and 20 has caused severe damage to the lone road connecting Zero Point in Bhandari town to Bhandari, Alikhum, Longchum and Yimpang villages in Nagaland’s Wokha district.
According to the DIPR, road sinking occurred along the stretch linking Zero Point to the four villages. Another section of the road, located about 2–3 km from Zero Point towards Yimpang village, also caved in, disrupting connectivity.
Rikhyothung Odyuo, vice president of the Lotha Youth Hoho, informed that residents of Bhandari village and nearby areas have mobilised volunteers to repair the damaged road and clear blocked sections to restore access for people travelling to and from the four villages.

The heavy rain also triggered landslides, damaging several houses in the area. In Ward 8 of Bhandari town, the houses of Penthungo Yanthan and Helen Yanthan were severely affected, while the house of B. Zuben Yanthan in Yimpang village also sustained extensive damage due to a landslide.
No casualties have been reported so far.
