Kohima: Three suspected cadres of the NNC/FGN (NA) were arrested by Kohima Police during a special operation in the state capital, leading to the seizure of arms, ammunition, cash and a vehicle.
According to police, the operation was launched on June 18 after receiving credible information about the movement of suspected members of a self-styled underground faction from Dimapur towards Kohima.
Acting on the intelligence input, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Kohima Police initiated a search operation and successfully apprehended the suspects from the New Secretariat area under the jurisdiction of North Police Station.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Senlo Khing (56), self-styled President of NNC/FGN (NA); Kitoho H. Zhimomi (38), self-styled Kilo Kilonser of NNC/FGN (NA); and Tovito Kiba (29), self-styled Finance Kilonser of NNC/FGN (NA).
During the operation, police seized two .32 calibre country-made pistols along with two magazines and 11 live rounds, one .22 calibre country-made pistol with one magazine and five live rounds, a Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration number AS-26-3373, cash amounting to Rs 48,500, four mobile phones and several incriminating documents.
Police said a case has been registered at North Police Station in connection with the seizure of illegal arms and other incriminating materials.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the movement of the suspects, identify their network and determine the possible involvement of other associates.
Kohima Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of the public. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share information relating to unlawful activities.
