Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the Nagaland government to intervene in facilitating the safe return of Naga students and youths stranded in Nepal due to the ongoing political crisis in the neighbouring country.
In a memorandum addressed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, the Federation expressed concern over the plight of several students and youths who had gone to Nepal for academic and professional pursuits but now find themselves in a situation of “grave uncertainty and distress.”
The NSF urged the state government to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and other relevant agencies to arrange travel support, documentation and transit assistance for their safe movement back to Nagaland.
It further requested that suitable arrangements be made upon their arrival, including logistical support and immediate assistance where necessary. The Federation stated that such timely intervention would bring immense relief to the stranded individuals as well as their anxious families.
Reiterating its commitment to the welfare of Naga students across the globe, the NSF sought the “kind consideration and prompt action” of the government on what it described as an urgent humanitarian matter.
