Kohima: In a midnight raid that shocked the state’s judicial system, thieves breached the Malkhanna (evidence storage room) of the Prosecution Inspector’s (PI) Court in Kohima on March 22, 2025, and made away with a significant cache of narcotics evidence.
According to the district police, the burglary occurred between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM, when unidentified individuals forcibly entered the secured facility. Their target: 45 soap cases containing 675 grams of suspected heroin, key evidence in ongoing narcotics cases.
The theft triggered an immediate, high-priority investigation by Kohima Police. For nearly three months, investigators worked around the clock to trace those behind what was seen as a direct attack on the integrity of the judicial process.
The breakthrough came on June 13, 2025, when Kohima Police, led by SDPO (North) Sheta Lohe, apprehended the prime suspect, Kevichutuo Cüze (28). He has since been remanded to judicial custody as the probe deepens.
“This arrest is a significant development in a case that struck at the integrity of our judicial process. The police team pursued every lead relentlessly. The investigation remains active, and we are determined to recover the stolen narcotics and ensure all involved face the full force of the law,” the Kohima Police PRO said.
