Kohima: Kohima Police have issued a stern public advisory warning against unauthorised vehicle modifications, citing violations of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and related regulations.
The advisory highlighted several specific alterations deemed illegal, including modification of exhaust systems particularly in two-wheelers, installation of excessively bright or non-standard LED lights, use of sirens and blinkers without authorisation, and the application of tinted films that impair visibility on windshields and windows.
The district police said that enforcement would be intensified in the coming days.
Vehicles found in violation of the law will be liable for seizure, and their owners or operators will face legal action as prescribed under existing legislation.
The police have urged all vehicle owners to strictly adhere to manufacturer-approved specifications and avoid any modifications that are not explicitly permitted.
