The Concerned Aspirants Group of Nagaland has issued a fresh appeal to the state government, urging a prompt response to their demand for age relaxation in government job recruitment. The group cites disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason behind their request.
The group had previously submitted a representation to the Chief Minister on July 22, 2024, but claims no action has been taken in over two months.
The delay has left many aspirants in a state of uncertainty, with the group citing emotional and psychological distress due to the lack of response. “The aspirants are perplexed by the government’s laxity in responding to the genuine demand and thereby prolonging the issue,” the group said in a statement.
Thousands of aspirants are seeking “equal and fair chances in public employment,” the group emphasized, arguing that the inaction is depriving them of their rights under Article 16 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees equal opportunities in public employment.
Several prominent student bodies, including the Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN), Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU), Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA), Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), Chakesang Students’ Union (CSU), Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Konyak Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK), and Pochury Students’ Union (PSU), have extended their support to the aspirants’ demand.
The group also noted that the issue has been covered by various news outlets multiple times.
With the deadline for the Nagaland Public Service Commission Civil Services Examinations (NPSC CSE) 2024 form submission set for October 9, and the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) notification expected soon, the group urged the government to prioritize the matter.
“The group appeals to the government to take this matter with utmost priority and come up with a resolute decision at the earliest,” the statement concluded.
Aspirants now anxiously await a response, hoping for a decision that could impact thousands of potential job seekers across Nagaland.
