Kohima: The MSEME Promotion Council of India (MSMEPCI) on Monday organised an orientation and interaction programme for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at De Oriental Grande in Kohima, Nagaland.
Themed “Our resolution is that with you there should be employment in every household and every hand,” the event aimed to strengthen the MSME sector and create job opportunities across Nagaland.
National Chairman of MSMEPCI, Pradeep Mishra Sarkar, who attended the event as the special guest, highlighted the council’s commitment to fostering a prosperous Nagaland. He assured the audience that the council is dedicated to ensuring that the benefits of its activities reach the people, emphasising the importance of collaboration with state governments to implement various programmes effectively.
He expressed concern over the number of people from the Northeast working in hotels and restaurants across India, driven by the search for financial stability. He stressed the need to create job opportunities within the region to prevent families from being separated in pursuit of livelihoods.
Despite the government’s efforts, Sarkar acknowledged that many government schemes and programmes fail to reach the people due to communication gaps. He emphasised the need for better awareness and accessibility to these schemes and announced that MSMEPCI would soon unveil a comprehensive plan to create employment opportunities for 10,000 youths across the country, including the state of Nagaland.
Sarkar highlighted the importance of registering with MSMEPCI, noting that approximately 73,000 people have gained employment through the MSME network. He assured that Nagaland would receive top priority in the council’s initiatives and reiterated the significance of the Northeast region in the council’s overall strategy.
Advisor Industries and Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu has called for genuine concern and commitment towards the development of Nagaland, urging a collaborative effort between citizens and the government.
She highlighted the promising industrial development in Nagaland, noting the sector’s significant growth—from 2.83 percent in 2012 to an impressive 12.8% percent in 2022-2023.
During a press conference, Sarkar announced the launch of a 100-day agenda under which schemes like KRGS, RTGS, and Nari Shakti, particularly for women. He revealed that MSMEPCI has selected 64 to 100 members from each district to work towards the success of these programmes. The council aims to reach every family and household in Nagaland, providing necessary guidance to youths applying for various schemes.
State Chairman of MSMEPCI Nagaland, Lanuakum Jamir emphasised the importance of recruiting talented artisans during the council’s recruitment process. He also underscored the need to improve banking literacy among the people.

The event began with a prayer led by Pastor Letuolie Pienyü and a welcome and keynote address by Makunga, the National Deputy Vice Chairman of MSMEPCI, Incharge of Manipur and Nagaland. Er Sabou Yashü, Director of Information Technology & Communication, and Abhishek Misra, Additional Director of Software Technology Parks of India, attended as Guests of Honour. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Lanuakum Jamir.
In the second session, participants engaged in an interactive discussion with MSMEs and bankers, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in the sector.
