Kohima: The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) and the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango faction have reached a resolution following a crucial meeting held in Kohima, Nagaland, on Tuesday.
As per a joint statement, the meeting was facilitated by the Government of India’s Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG)/ Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) to address the ongoing tensions between the two parties. Notably, a death threat issued by a cadre of the NSCN-K Khango cadre to an Angami contractor over ‘illegal taxation’ created public outcry.
As per the resolution, the NSCN-K Khango has agreed to unconditionally withdraw the imposition of capital punishment on the proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho with immediate effect.
The Naga outfit also agreed to retract its directive ordering Angami contractors to cease activities and demobilise their manpower and machinery deployed across other districts of Nagaland. This directive will be lifted immediately.
NSCN-K Khango group also committed to publicly reveal the identity of the individual known as “Max Naga” and to initiate appropriate disciplinary action against him within 15 days. Accordingly, it was agreed upon that the AYO will withdraw its Non-Cooperation stance and recall Angami workers from the NSCN-K Khango group.
Further, the NSCN-K Khango group also expressed regret over the unfortunate incident that led to the dispute.
The AYO, in the course of the meeting, reiterated its unwavering commitment to the Angami Public Organisation’s 1993 resolution advocating for “One Government, One Tax”.
The statement was jointly signed by AYO president Kesosul Christopher Ltu, general secretary Neidilhoutuo Sechü, NSCN-K Khango home minister Visheto Yeptho and the group’s CFSB supervisor Imyapangba Ao.
