Kohima: In a significant development, initial restoration works for the Tuli paper mill in Mokokchung, Nagaland, have commenced.
According to an official update, personnel from 3A Capital Services Limited (3ACSL), the private company that acquired Nagaland Pulp and Paper Company Ltd, have been deployed to the site.
According to an official from 3ACSL, the company is currently in the audit phase to clear the pending liabilities of the mill’s previous employees.
The audit is expected to be completed by the end of the year, after which extensive restoration and revival works will begin.
It is noteworthy that the State Government, which previously owned 12% of the mill, now holds a reduced share of 3.51%. The Mumbai-based private firm 3ACSL owns the majority share of 96.49%.

In April 2023, when Nagaland hosted the G20 business meet at Kohima CM Neiphiu Rio had revealed that the existing paper mill at Tuli under Mokokchung, which stopped operations in 1992, would be liquidated in order to make way for new investments.
Rio had said that the Tuli Paper Mill or Nagaland Pulp & Paper Company Limited (NPPCL) which is a joint venture between the Centre’s Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (HPCL) enterprise and the state government has “failed miserably” due to defective machinery.
