Kohima: The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) organised the Olympic Day Run 2024 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Saturday with the theme “Let’s Move & Celebrate.”
During the prize distribution ceremony, NOA Secretary General and Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India, Abu Metha, congratulated all participants, noting their participation in a global celebration of Olympic Day.
“You are joining millions of kids across the world to observe Olympic Day. You are not only participating here in Nagaland but you have become ambassadors and messengers of sports all over the world,” Metha said.
“This year, the participants were not only smarter but also more active, demonstrating that our young athletes are beginning to adapt to the rigors and joys of sports. It is heartening to see their dedication and enthusiasm, which bode well for the future of sports in Nagaland,” he added.
Metha encouraged the young athletes to dream big and strive for excellence, emphasizing that through hard work and determination, they too could become champions.
He assured that the NOA would continue to organise more events to promote sports, aiming for representation at national and international levels. He also thanked parents and school authorities for their support, highlighting the role of sports in strengthening character and personal development.

The Olympic Day Run featured races in three categories: 50 meters for children aged 6 and below, 80 meters for ages 8 and below, and 100 meters for ages 10 and below. The event saw enthusiastic participation from children across different districts, who showcased their talents in their respective age groups.
Joint Secretary of NOA, Kuputo Shohe, chaired the program, while Treasurer Neiyalie Angami delivered the vote of thanks. All winners received cash incentives, and all participants were awarded certificates.
