Dimapur: The Nagaland Congress, in a press conference held in Dimapur on Monday, labeled the widely circulated exit polls as a “ploy” by the BJP government to undermine the impending verdict, set to be announced on Tuesday.
Amid reports indicating a significant victory for the BJP-led NDA government in the exit polls, Yanger Longkumer, Chairperson of the communications department of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), denounced the predictions as a deliberate attempt to manipulate public perception.
“They know that the people of India have voted in favour of the INDIA Bloc, and this is a ploy to sabotage the verdict. They are laying the trap to sabotage the verdict which will be declared tomorrow,” he said.
He urged the public not to be misled by the ‘falsity’ propagated by the exit polls and advised them to await the actual results.
Expressing confidence in the INDIA Bloc’s prospects, Longkumer stated that the party anticipates securing a minimum of 295 seats in parliament, thereby forming a government with a comfortable majority.
Furthermore, Longkumer disclosed that the Congress party will participate in the forthcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Nagaland, contesting all seats independently without forming alliances.

Addressing the ongoing concerns raised by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), Longkumer reiterated the Congress’s support for their legitimate demands, affirming the party’s willingness to address their grievances if elected to power.
