The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is extending a fervent call to the Northeastern populace, with Nagaland specifically in focus, to apply for job opportunities within its ranks. This appeal was articulated by Bimal Chandra Das, the Assistant Security Commissioner of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) stationed in Dimapur, during a press briefing held on Saturday, May 4, at the Dimapur office.
Addressing the media, Assistant Security Commissioner Das underscored the RPF’s keen interest in enlisting a significant number of youths from the Northeast for various roles within the force. “RPF is actively seeking participation from the Northeastern states in its recruitment drives,” Das emphasized, stressing the importance of disseminating this message far and wide.
The recruitment initiative aims to fill 4,026 vacancies for constables and over 200 vacancies for Sub-inspectors, with the application deadline set for May 14. The eligibility criteria stipulate a minimum educational qualification of Class 10 for constable positions and graduation for sub-inspectors.
Das lamented the minimal representation from Nagaland since 2009, noting the absence of representatives not only from Nagaland but also from states like Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. He attributed this shortfall to a lack of awareness among Nagaland’s youth regarding RPF job openings and the organization’s functions.
Highlighting the perks of RPF employment, Das emphasized that these positions offer central government jobs with benefits and facilities commensurate with central paramilitary roles. Additionally, he solicited public cooperation in combating illicit activities in and around railway premises.

Responding to queries about illegal activities near Dimapur railway premises, Das assured ongoing collaboration between the RPF, local police, and customs officials to bolster security. Recent data from the Dimapur RPF post revealed commendable efforts, including the rescue of 20 minors (7 girls and 13 boys) under “Operation Nanhe Farishte” and 3 women under “Operation Sewa” between January and April 2024.
Under “Operation NARCOS,” the RPF seized suspected brown sugar and ganja valued at Rs. 51 lakhs. Additionally, Smuggled Goods of Foreign Origins (SGFO) worth Rs. 1.99 lakh were recovered, leading to the arrest of two individuals. Notably, 182 individuals were arrested across 176 cases under the Railways Act during the same period, as disclosed by the RPF post in Dimapur.
