Kohima: Nagaland governor La Ganesan, on Wednesday urged graduates to embrace innovation and social responsibility as they complete their academic studies to pursue their dreams.
He was addressing students during the Convocation program of ICFAI University as Chief Guest held at the University auditorium, Sovima Village, Chumoukedima.
Governor La Ganesan congratulated the achievements of 414 young scholars and 32 gold medallists, emphasising the importance of their academic accomplishments. He particularly commended the recipients of the Certificate of Merit for their exemplary performance.
Ganesan highlighted the rapidly evolving landscape of the job market and urged graduating students to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation. He encouraged them to become job creators rather than job seekers, venture into unexplored paths, and initiate startups to address societal needs.
Talking about the moral obligations of graduates, Governor Ganesan emphasised the importance of upholding high ethical standards in both personal and professional life. He urged them to share their knowledge, engage in volunteer work, and contribute to addressing societal issues such as inequality and environmental sustainability.
Governor Ganesan also emphasised the crucial role graduates would play in managing the finances of successful individuals and contributing to the nation’s economic and societal progress. He expressed hope that their contributions would lead India towards a developed and inclusive future by 2047.

Nagaland governor also urged graduates to step forward with courage, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. He emphasised the importance of letting their knowledge fuel their passions, dreams, and actions towards a shared vision of a developed India.
Earlier in the ceremony, traditional lamp lighting took place, followed by welcome address and report delivery by the Vice Chancellor. Chancellor Dr. VRK Prasad also addressed the attendees. Awards of degrees and medals were presented by the Chairman of the Academic Council and Governor Ganesan respectively. The graduating students took the pledge administered on the occasion.
