Kohima: The Nagaland state police apprehended three individuals from Wokha district on Friday in connection with impersonation cases reported during the Lok Sabha election.
Despite the poll abstention in six districts following a call by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) to protest against the delay of its Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) demand, Nagaland participated in the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha polls.
State Police Nodal Officer, Limasunep, while addressing a post-poll press conference in Kohima informed that the arrests were made from Sanis and Bhandari Assembly Constituencies.
He confirmed that apart from the three cases of impersonation, no other incidents were reported.
Limasunep further highlighted that the polling process across the state remained peaceful and there were no major reports of any law-and-order or violence anywhere in the State.
Overall, he informed that security personnel from 48 CAPF companies and 46 IRB and NAP companies along with 600 Home Guards, 5,761 District Executive Force, and 9,583 village guards, totaling to 22,954 personnel were deployed for the polls.
Polling stations were monitored from 7 AM to 4 PM, with security arrangements continuing as polling teams returned to Kohima.

Regarding post-poll security concerns, Limasunep expressed hope that the state would not witness any violence.
As for the security deployment in six districts of Eastern Nagaland, he informed that a total of 13,850 security personnel including 14 CAPF companies, 9 IRB companies, 10 NAP companies, two platoons of Home Guards, and 9,583 Village Guard personnel were deployed in the Eastern districts.
