Dimapur Police notifies NH-29 restoration diversion; See details

Kohima: In light of the upcoming restoration works at the sinking area located at 114.100 km RHS (Right Hand Side) along NH-29 near Airport junction, the Dimapur Police has notified a series of traffic diversions and restrictions.

According to the district police, the notification will come to force from April 14 at 5 AM and continue till its completion on April 15.

Here are the details of the traffic diversions and restrictions:

Closure of RHS Stretch towards Dimapur: The entire RHS stretch from the Airport traffic point to 3rd Mile traffic point will be cut off, and no vehicles will be permitted to ply on this section of NH-29.
Single Lane Usage on LHS of NH-29: The LHS (Left Hand Side) of NH-29, opposite the closed RHS stretch, will be designated as a single lane. This lane will be used for vehicles traveling towards Chumoukedima as well as those heading towards Dimapur, with diversions at the Airport Junction. Overtaking on this single lane stretch is strictly prohibited.
No Parking Zone: No vehicles will be allowed to be parked on the LHS of NH-29 from 3rd Mile Junction till the Airport Junction, towards Chumoukedima/Kohima.
Normal Traffic for Chekiye Village: All vehicles exiting from Chekiye Village Main Gate may proceed as usual towards Dimapur.
Alternate Routes for Vehicles: Vehicles coming from Dimapur/Chumoukedima traveling towards Chekiye Village area are advised to take alternate routes such as Little Angels Higher Secondary School or other connecting roads.
Restriction on Plying of Heavy Vehicles: Plying of heavy vehicles entering Dimapur from Assam or Kohima/Chumoukedima/other districts will be restricted from 7 AM to 9 PM during the restoration works.
Exception for School Buses and Emergency Service Vehicles: Except for school buses and emergency service vehicles, no other heavy vehicles will be permitted to ply on the restricted stretch of NH-29 during the restoration period.
