Kohima: Following the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections, the Nagaland police arrested 37 persons from March 16-31 in drug-related cases.
The arrests were made as part of ongoing statewide operations aimed at curbing the rampant availability and usage of synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances, and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
According to the Nagaland Police, intensive checking on vehicles, raids, and inspections of establishments such as hotels and restaurants were conducted to control illegal activities.
In a series of successful operations, 12 individuals were apprehended in nine separate cases related to drugs. During these arrests, the police seized 548 capsules of spasmo proxyvon and other tablets, along with 1478 grams of brown sugar, 25.75 grams of heroin, and approximately 22 kilograms of Ganja.
18 separate cases related to IMFL was registered where a total of 22 individuals were arrested, and a significant quantity of 2943 units of IMFL was seized.
Furthermore, three individuals were apprehended in possession of one pistol and a case was registered.
In light of these developments, the police have issued a public appeal, urging citizens to report any instances of the sale or distribution of narcotics, drugs, IMFL, and so on, to the nearest police station or narcotic police station.
