Kohima: Independent candidate Hayithung Tungoe Lotha officially entered the race for the 18th Lok Sabha Election by filing his nomination papers on Friday at the Commissioner Nagaland & Returning Officer’s Office in Kohima, Nagaland.
Lotha submitted his nomination papers for the 1-Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency before Commissioner Nagaland & Returning Officer, Sushil Kumar Patel IAS.
Assisting in the scrutiny of the documents was Additional Deputy Commissioner (Hq) & Assistant Returning Officer, Benjamin Longkap.
Lotha’s filing marks the first nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election from Nagaland State.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers is set for Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 3:00 pm.
Although nominations are yet to filed, Nagaland’s opposition-less government the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA)’s consensus candidate from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Dr Chumben Murry and the president of the Indian National Congress (INC) Supongmeren Jamir will join the poll fray.
