Wokha: Taking note of the seven-day ultimatum served by the Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) to the M/S Northeast Enterprise and the contractors over the delay in the construction of an all-weather road from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti village, the MS Northeast Enterprises has responded to the union stating that the work was delayed due to some internal issues.
The road from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti village in the Wokha district is being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) II. Lamenting the slow pace of work, the student body expressed apprehension that the monsoon could affect the work as well as the road condition, causing inconveniences to the public.
In the letter, the concerned contractors stated that the work was delayed due to some internal hiccups, particularly with a proposal for change in the technology and the implementation of the soil stabilisation, which could not take off in time.
The M/S Northeast Enterprise said that the matter has been sorted out and assured the students’ union that the mobilisation of the required machinery is under process and the work would commence by the first week of June 22 and will be completed within the given time, which is September 2022.
The LMRSU appreciated MS Northeast Enterprises and the contractors concerned for responding to the ultimatum served by the LMRSU on May 24. Earlier, the LMRSU also appealed to the department concerned to intervene and initiate necessary action to finish road construction work at the earliest.
LMRSU said it is looking forward to the timely completion of the work as specified in the DPR and assured support and cooperation to the contractors.
The contractors have also appealed to all stakeholders for cooperation for the timely completion of the road project.
