Wokha: Expressing dismay at the lack of progress in the construction of an all-weather road sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) served a seven-day ultimatum to M/S Northeast Enterprise and the contractors.
LMRSU stated that even after serving a representation on May 12 2022, the registered company and the contractors failed to respond to the concerns.
“LMRSU is constrained to serve an ultimatum of seven days to expedite the work and also demands a written assurance as to when the work will be resumed and completed,” the Union said in a statement.
Upon failure, the LMRSU affirmed to initiate legal action and added that they would not be held accountable for any untoward incident.
The LMRSU had, in a letter on May 12, stated that M/S Northeast Enterprise was initially supposed to have completed the ongoing road construction from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti Village by March 20, 2022. However, it was learnt that the company had received a six-month extension.
LMRSU lamented that the work was moving at a snail’s pace and that the monsoon season was causing great inconveniences to the common public.
The LMRSU mentioned that the contractor had, on March 24, 2022, verbally assured them of starting work within 15 days and completing the work within 45 working days using foreign technology. Yet, when the LMRSU officials inspected the project, they saw no progress, leaving them with no option but to serve an ultimatum.
