Kohima: Cheineino Brothers and Mystic Club emerged as the champions of the 8th Kohima District Open Volleyball Tournament 2021 under the men and women’s categories, respectively, during the three day tournament which concluded on Friday evening.
Held under the aegis of Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA), the closing ceremony was attended by N Bhavani Sri, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, held at the Kohima local ground.
In men’s category, Cheineino Brothers Kiruphema retained the tournament’s championship title and walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 while the runner-up team Michazou Mima received a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
Semi finalists Kiruphema Youth Organization and Dazzling Phesama each received Rs 5000 each.

In the individual category, Kethovikho Zenyü of Cheineino Brothers and Keneiso Tepa of Michazou Mima bagged the best spiker and best setter titles respectively and pocketed Rs 2000 each.
As for the women’s category, champions Mystic Club received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 while runner-up Elite Sisters received Rs 15,000. Semi finalist teams Kezo town youth and Tiemakhe Kidima each received Rs. 5000.
Rinrichon Kashung and Mhasivino Kuotsu, both from Mystic Club bagged the best spiker and best setter title respectively and received Rs 2000 each.
Meanwhile, Visaneikho Hesielie of Cheineino Brothers Kiruphema won the best coach title and received Rs 2000.
Dr Asalie Khezhie, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Nagaland handed over the prizes to the winners at the closing ceremony. During the 8th edition of the tournament, a total of 18 teams participated.
