Iconic rock band Aerosmith has announced their retirement from touring, marking the end of an era that has spanned over five decades. In a heartfelt Instagram post on Friday, the band expressed their gratitude to music lovers for their unwavering support and revealed the early conclusion of their “Peace Out: The Farewell” tour. The decision comes as frontman Steven Tyler is no longer able to perform at his best due to a vocal injury.
The tour, originally scheduled to continue until 2025, will now come to an end earlier than planned. Reflecting on their journey, the band stated, “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n’ roll history.”
In their message, Aerosmith acknowledged the impact they have had on fans’ lives and expressed their dedication to delivering the best performances possible. However, they also shared the unfortunate reality that Tyler’s voice, described as “an instrument like no other,” has not fully recovered from his injury. “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision—as a band of brothers—to retire from the touring stage,” the band explained.
The band extended their gratitude to their fans, crew, and team for their support throughout their career. “We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team, and the thousands of talented people who’ve made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you—the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. Dream On. You’ve made our dreams come true,” they added.

Fans who purchased tickets for the remaining shows will receive refunds, as confirmed by the band. Aerosmith, comprising members Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, Joe Perry, and Brad Whitford, has been known for hits such as “Sweet Emotion,” “Love In An Elevator,” “Cryin’,” and “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing.” The “Peace Out” tour commenced in 2023, but was interrupted in September of that year when Tyler sustained a vocal cord injury during a concert in New York. It was later revealed that the injury, involving a fractured larynx, was more severe than initially thought, necessitating an extended period of rest for Tyler’s vocal cords.
