Kendrick Lamar drops '6:16 in LA' produced by Jack Antonoff

Jack Antonoff, the prolific musician known for his collaborations with Taylor Swift, has made a surprising pivot into the realm of Kendrick Lamar’s latest musical endeavour. Confirming to Billboard, a representative for Antonoff revealed his involvement in co-producing Kendrick Lamar’s scorching new diss track aimed at Drake, titled ‘6:16 in LA‘.

Teaming up with Lamar’s in-house beat master, Sounwave, Antonoff’s touch is unmistakable in the seething energy of ‘6:16 in LA‘. The track, which surfaced on Kendrick’s Instagram account on Friday, features a sample from Al Green and takes direct aim at Drake, continuing Kendrick’s ongoing scrutiny of the Canadian rapper while alleging leaks within Drake’s OVO camp.

Upon sharing the track on social media, Kendrick Lamar ignited a frenzy of speculation among fans regarding the significance of the enigmatic title, ‘6:16‘. Some fans theorised connections to 2Pac’s birthday on June 16, particularly noting Drake’s previous utilization of AI-assisted vocals from the late rapper. Others pointed out the coincidence of June 16 also being Father’s Day in Canada this year, while music producer 9th Wonder drew attention to HBO’s series ‘Euphoria‘, which debuted on the same date in 2019, coincidentally the title of Kendrick’s earlier diss track aimed at Drake.

6:16 in LA‘ emerges just three days after Kendrick Lamar unleashed his blistering ‘Euphoria‘ diss, leaving Drake yet to offer an official response. However, Drake’s subtle hints at retaliation have not gone unnoticed, including a cryptic remark during a recent stage appearance in Toronto.

Antonoff’s involvement in ‘6:16‘ marks his inaugural collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, adding another dynamic layer to his diverse portfolio. Recently, Antonoff spearheaded production on Taylor Swift’s chart-topping album ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘, released on April 19.
