Ezrela Dalidia Fanai, an accredited journalist from Mizoram, passed away on Christmas morning. She was found dead in her apartment earlier today. At the time of her death, she was working as a reporter with Doordarshan Kendra Aizawl and was also associated with All India Radio News.
Dalidia had been living with her mother and her pet dog, both of whom passed away recently. She had no immediate family members at the time of her death. Sources said she had been going through a difficult period following these personal losses.
Dear Reader,
Every day, our team at EastMojo travels through rain, rough roads, and remote hills to bring you stories that matter – stories from your town, your people, your Northeast.
We do this because we believe in truthful, independent journalism. No big corporate backing, no government pressure – just honest reporting by local journalists who live and breathe the same air you do.
But to keep doing this work, we need you. Your small contribution helps us pay our reporters fairly, reach places others ignore, and keep asking the tough questions.
If you believe the Northeast deserves its own fearless voice, stand with us.
Support independent journalism. Be a Member.
Thank you,
Karma Paljor

Police officials said she was alone in the apartment when she died. A preliminary examination has indicated that no foul play is suspected, and further procedures are being carried out as per protocol.
Dalidia was a member of the Mizoram Journalists’ Association and had several years of experience in journalism. She was known for reporting news from Mizoram and the Northeast to audiences outside the state.
During her career, she was associated with national media organisations, including India Today and NDTV, and had earlier worked with EastMojo. Colleagues remembered her as a journalist who consistently worked to bring regional issues to wider attention.
