Aizawl: Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, George Kurian today virtually laid the foundation stone for two major projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) in Siaha district.
The event was hosted at the MADC Golden Jubilee Hall, with wide participation from officials of the Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC) and the State Government. Siaha Additional Deputy Commissioner Abraham Beirazi Khithie presided over the function. Local MLAs Dr. K. Beichhua and K. Hrahmo also joined the event virtually.
In his virtual address, George Kurian highlighted the central government’s long-term development roadmap under the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision, an ambitious national mission to make India a fully developed nation by the 100th year of its independence. He said Mizoram, particularly the northeastern region, has witnessed remarkable progress in recent years, and hoped the new projects would usher in lasting benefits for the people of Siaha.
The Minister praised the dynamic leadership driving development in the region and expressed confidence that such initiatives would continue to uplift minority and marginalised communities. “These projects are part of our commitment to inclusive growth and community empowerment,” he said.
Dr. K. Beichhua, MLA from Saiha constituency and President of the BJP Mizoram unit, as well as MADC Chief Executive Member M. Laikaw, also addressed the gathering. Both leaders thanked the Centre for its inclusive development policies and support towards building critical infrastructure in minority-dominated areas.
The two projects for which foundation stones were laid are the construction of a Public Market-cum-Multipurpose Centre and Women Facilitation Centre at Tipa V, Siaha district, and the construction of a Multipurpose Community Hall in Siaha town.
