Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has written a heartfelt letter to the makers of the upcoming film Chidiya, lauding its portrayal of childhood dreams, resilience, and imagination. According to a report by News18, the film, set to release on May 30, moved the Chief Minister with its powerful message about the strength and creativity of children growing up in challenging environments.
The report says Chidiya is a drama set in Mumbai’s Dharavi and follows the story of two young brothers who transform a forgotten junkyard into a badminton court. In his letter, Lalduhoma commended the filmmakers for crafting a cinematic experience that “uplifts and unites — a message most relevant in today’s world.”
Directed by Mehran Amrohi and produced by Faqhrul Husaini under the banner of Smiley Films in collaboration with Key Media Works, the film stars Vinay Pathak, Amruta Subhash, Svar Kamble, Ayush Pathak, Inaamulhaq, Brijendra Kala, and Muzaffar Khan.
The story follows Shanu and Bua, two spirited brothers who live in a cramped chawl in Mumbai. A chance discovery of a badminton racket sets them on an extraordinary journey to create a court of their own in a junkyard, supported by their mother and a group of colourful neighbours. Their journey is one of struggle, hope, and imagination — a testament to how big dreams can grow in the smallest of places.
According to the report, director Amrohi shared that the Chief Minister had recently watched the film and was deeply touched by it. “We’re honoured by his kind words and hope Chidiya continues to inspire everyone who watches it. Films like these are crucial reminders of the joy and innocence that childhood brings,” he said.
