The meeting, chaired by KC Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Vice Chairman of MSPCC, saw the participation of nodal officers from 16 departments under the ‘Bana Kaih Scheme,’ a handholding initiative aimed at supporting eligible applicants.
During the meeting, it was reported that a total of 1,314 applications had been submitted through the scheme’s portal. KC Lalmalsawmzauva emphasized the importance of thoroughly evaluating the applicants, approving those with the potential and determination to succeed. He advised nodal departments to provide necessary guidance and assistance to the applicants, ensuring they receive the support they need to benefit from the scheme.
Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary of the Planning & Program Implementation Department, provided an update on the next steps for the scheme. He mentioned that after the first batch of applications will be scrutinised by the nodal officers, the selections will be further examined by the apex body on November 21. Progress partners, who will be responsible for executing the scheme, are expected to be selected and trained within November.
The concerned departments will also oversee the loan approval process for the progress partners, with the expectation that the selected individuals or organizations will begin their work by January 2025.
Of the 1,314 applicants, the highest number of applications came from the Commerce & Industries Department, with 540 applicants, followed by the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, with 409 applicants. Out of the total, 1,292 are individual applicants, and 22 are organizations.
The ‘Bana Kaih Scheme’ aims to provide handholding support to eligible applicants, guiding them through the process of securing loans and ensuring they have the resources to succeed in their respective fields.
