Aizawl: The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) has announced a significant educational initiative to introduce Mizo as a subject in schools within its jurisdiction.
This decision was reached during the Executive Committee meeting of the 11th CADC held on Friday.
Starting from the primary level up to upper levels, Mizo will be incorporated into the curriculum of all government-managed schools, local body schools, and Samagra Shiksha institutions within the CADC area.
This move aims to promote the Mizo language and culture among students, ensuring its preservation and encouraging a deeper understanding of the region’s heritage.
To implement this decision effectively, the CADC plans to recruit qualified Mizo language teachers once the necessary funding is secured from the Government of Mizoram. The Education Department of the CADC has been instructed to prepare and submit a proposal to the state government, seeking the required financial support for this initiative.
