Aizawl: In a crucial meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Lalduhoma of Mizoram met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss various issues affecting Mizoram and Manipur. Lalduhoma proposed that the Home Ministry engage with the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) to discuss the challenges facing the hill areas in Manipur.
Lalduhoma also relayed an invitation from Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh, requesting Amit Shah to visit Imphal. The Union Minister expressed his willingness to accept the invitation.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, Chief Minister Lalduhoma revealed on Thursday morning that Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had recently asked him to mediate in talks with organizations representing the Kuki-Zo communities.
Although Lalduhoma did not provide further details, sources in Manipur disclosed that Singh made the request during a meeting with Lalduhoma on the sidelines of the NITI Aayog’s gathering in New Delhi on July 28.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) was established on June 9, 2022, by recognized tribes in the district, including representatives from the Paite Tribe Council, Kuki Inpi, Simte Tribe Council, Vaiphei People’s Council, Mizo People’s Convention, Hmar Inpui, United Zou Organisation, and Gangte Tribe Union.

The ITLF encompasses a range of specialized departments, including Finance & Resource, Media Cell, Reliefs & Medical, Legal Cell, Women’s Wing, Planning and Rehabilitation, the Joint Philanthropic Organisation, and the Steering Committee. These departments work together to support the overall well-being of the Kuki-Zo tribal communities in Manipur.
