Mizoram: MNF to hold 'Burning of lies' event to expose ZPM

Aizawl: The Mizo National Front (MNF) has announced plans to hold a program aimed at exposing what they claim are numerous lies told by the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) before and after coming to power.

The announcement was made at a program held at the MNF General Headquarters, where Mizo National Youth Front President Robert Romawia Royte addressed the media.

Royte accused the ZPM of consistently misleading the public, stating, “The ZPM, both before forming the government and after, have continuously lied to the public. This behavior is detrimental to our people and our religion. The MNF will take a firm stand to ensure that the public has access to the truth.”

The program, dubbed “Burning the Lies,” will involve burning hard copies of the statements made by ZPM that MNF claims are false, and making videos of these alleged lies public.

Royte highlighted one example, stating, “The ZPM had promised to end smuggling activities within a month, yet 5,000 bags of areca nuts that were seized have been released to smugglers due to the influence of certain ZPM leaders. This has caused significant suffering in the Hachhek constituency due to illegal smuggling activities.”

Royte also criticised the ZPM’s handling of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), noting, “The ZPM initially granted general consent to the CBI but later changed it, requiring the CBI to seek permission from the ZPM to proceed with investigations.”
