Aizawl: In a decisive move to protect the Chin community in Myanmar, the Central Young Lai Association (YLA) has announced a ban on the movement of goods from Mizoram to Myanmar.
This decision came after a Central Executive Committee meeting held by the association, which conducted a thorough study of the situation.
According to YLA officials, while it was initially assumed that the goods transported from Mizoram to Myanmar were being used for essential necessities, it was discovered that these supplies were instead being utilised to attack the Chin people and to bolster armed resources.

“We have often appealed to the Arakan to stop fighting with our Chin brethren, but there has been no response,” a YLA official stated.
Effective from Tuesday onwards, the Central YLA will enforce a ban on any movement of goods towards Myanmar. “We want the Mizo people to know that we are doing this to safeguard our land and our people. We appeal to those in the borders in Lawngtlai and Siaha districts to follow this order and support us,” the YLA emphasized.
