Aizawl: Chief Minister Lalduhoma of Mizoram met with Home Minister Amit Shah earlier today at the latter’s residence in Delhi. The meeting, which took place during the Chief Minister’s visit to attend the All Finance Ministers’ Meeting, focused on several crucial issues concerning Mizoram.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma presented a memorandum to Home Minister Amit Shah detailing the extensive damage caused by Cyclone Remal in Mizoram. The memorandum sought urgent central assistance to address the aftermath of the cyclone, including compensatory funds for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
In response, Home Minister Amit Shah assured Chief Minister Lalduhoma that a central team would be dispatched promptly to assess the situation on the ground in Mizoram. He committed to providing necessary compensatory funds based on the team’s report.

Furthermore, Home Minister Shah assured the Chief Minister of central government aid relief for refugees in Mizoram and addressed concerns regarding the proposed relocation of Assam Rifles. He confirmed that steps would be taken to relocate the Assam Rifles as proposed.
Following the meeting, Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced plans to convene a joint meeting involving key departments such as Assam Rifles, Home, PHE (Public Health Engineering), PWD (Public Works Department), and P&E (Power & Energy) Department to coordinate efforts effectively.
