Aizawl: At least 4 people, including three women, have been arrested with heroin altogether worth Rs 11.55 lakh during two raids jointly conducted by Mizoram excise and narcotics department and intelligent unit of Assam Rifles on Monday, an official statement issued by the excise department said on Tuesday.

The statement said that acting on tip-off officials of the department and Assam Rifles troopers raided Falkland and Thuampui junction areas in Aizawl on Monday night around 6:16 pm and seized 283 grams of heroin from the possession of three pedlers. The accused have been identified as Lalramhlimpuii (33), Lalpeklawma (26), both from Champhai town and Lalhunmuani (45), a resident of Zobawk village in Lunglei district, it said.

In another seizure, the combined team also recovered 129 grams of heroin from a woman peddler identified as Lalngaihpuii (28), a resident of N. Diltlang in Champhai district during a raid at Zonuam locality in Aizawl on Monday around 8:30 pm, the statement said.

In yet another seizure, meanwhile, officials of Mizoram Excise & Narcotics department seized 308 grams of heroin worth Rs. 9.10 lakh in Aizawl’s Bawngkawn locality, an official statement said on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday based on specific information, it said.

A peddler identified as Lalmalsawma (36), a resident of Saipum village in Kolasib district, who is now living at Durtlang in Aizawl, has been arrested for possessing the contraband, it said.

All accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, the statement added.
